Cleansing, or detoxification, is an ancient method of healing. The accumulation of toxic substances in the body, whether end products of metabolism or environmental toxins, is thought of as of as one of the root causes of many organ system dysfunctions. Cleansing these contaminants from the system is essential for healing.

At HNNH we have many different treatments for detoxifying.

Colon Irrigation Colonic irrigation has played a central role in natural therapy since the first medical records were kept. Pressed into ancient Babylonian cuneiforms are found the earliest known descriptions of a form of primitive colonic irrigation using hollow reeds to introduce water into the colon. Although the technology has improved greatly, we find to this day that this simple approach to detoxification is very effective in alleviating a great variety of conditions. It is especially indicated in the treatment of fatigue, muscle and joint pain, skin conditions such as eczema and acne, and autoimmune conditions. The treatment is simple. Purified water is introduced into the colon through a disposable speculum. Water pressure is monitored and controlled by the attending doctor or nurse. The water mixes with the contents of the colon, leading to a series of “releases” of material into the waste hose. Sessions last approximately 45 minutes, and are generally painless. Many patients report a feeling of lightness and enhanced well-being afterward.

Our colon hydrotherapy equipment is a state-of-the-art machine, imported from Canada; FDA approved for safety and reliability.
It uses a 3-Stage Water Purification System on each unit - sediment and carbon filtration plus Ultra Violet sterilization to insure that only pure water is used. An Automatic Temperature Control thermostatic precision valve and dedicated hot water heater insures that the water stays at the temperature set by your nurse for your treatment. Along with a private individual bathrooms in each colonic room, you are guaranteed a safe, professional experience.

German Footbaths The German Footbath is used to clear the blood and lymphatic circulations of impurities. For reasons that are not yet understood by science, the soles of the feet have a special relationship to the body as a whole. This relationship has been utilized for thousands of years in reflexology, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, the natural medicine system of India, among others. Detoxification of the circulation and tissues is among the primary goals of natural medicine systems around the world, as it enhances recovery of many conditions and promotes overall health and vitality.

Patients immerse their feet in the basin of water, to which has been added a blend of imported herbs and minerals. The activator is switched on, and within minutes the patient experiences a burning or tingling sensation on the bottom of the feet. This is the signal to turn the activator off, as the burning can become painful. The thermometer clearly shows that the burning sensation is not related to an increase in water temperature. Treatment time is 20 minutes per session.

Fango Therapy Fango is a mixture of dehydrated "mud" containing healing ingredients such as minerals and converted plants parts, mixed with various parrafin waxes. The Fango is melted, heated and applied to specific portions of the body, such as the liver, and areas of lymph node concentration. During the treatment the patient experiences deep heat and relaxation while they sweat and release toxins through the skin.

Far-Infrared Sauna Unlike traditional saunas, which are basically just hot rooms, the far infra-red sauna heats through the action of far infra-red emitters whose heating waves penetrate through the skin and directly heat tissues up to two inches inside the body. This has certain desirable effects, as it raises core temperature with greater rapidity at lower temperatures overall. Raising core temperature is indicated in chronic infections such as Lyme Disease that don’t usually spike a fever on their own. It is also indicated in the treatment of cancer, particularly tumors that reside just below or on the skin. We also find it useful for detoxification, particularly of organic chemicals that are stored in the adipose layers. It is also a wonderful relaxing treatment for chronic muscle pain, particularly spastic conditions.

Our new sauna comes with the MPS control panel. This control allows the doctors to vary the infrared output from each TheraMitter™ zone and control the infrared micron range. Depending on the patients BioPhenotype, condition and temperature tolerance, different configurations can be used to achieve the best therapeutic outcomes.

Oxygen Therapies

Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber- Oxygen is vital to sustaining human life. Every cell in the body needs oxygen to complete the metabolic processes that give life. Oxygen provides the fuel needed by the brain to function properly, and it helps the body fight off infection by boosting the immune system.

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy provides a highly effective way to increase the volume of oxygen in the blood and thus increase the many beneficial effects that oxygen has on the body.

Exercise with Oxygen Therapy (EWOT) Also known as Multi-Step Oxygen Therapy This therapy is backed by substantial German research that demonstrates that the administration of oxygen while exercising promotes a lasting expansion of constricted capillaries that enhances perfusion of congested capillary beds. The squamous cells making up the endothelium of capillaries tend to swell when deprived of oxygen, creating a sort of vicious cycle, as the swelling prevents further oxygenation. Light exercise opens the arterioles, and the oxygenated blood can then begin the process of reducing the swelling in the capillary endothelium.

This allows the entrance of more oxygenated blood, which creates a positive cycle of reduced inflammation and enhanced oxygenation. Research indicates that repeated administration of EWOT can lead to a lasting reduction of endothelial swelling and promotion of peripheral circulation. Our clinical experience indicates that EWOT is particularly useful in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy. It has also proven useful in the reduction of swelling in the nasal passages and sinuses, making it a therapy of choice in chronic sinusitis.

Physical Therapies

Acupuncture
Acupuncture has existed in evolving forms since the dawn of recorded literature. Currently, advances in technology allow the use of very fine disposable needles that are inserted to various shallow depths in precise locations that are deemed to be more receptive to manipulation of the subtle energy flow in the body called “Qi” by the Chinese. According to Chinese medical theory, Qi flows in meridians, or channels throughout the body in a circulation that brings nutrient to the tissues and carries away wastes. If the Qi flow is adequate in quantity and quality, good health results. Acupuncture is conceived of as a means to influence the Qi flow such that the desired balanced state is achieved. While often considered a therapy limited to pain relief in the west, acupuncture is actually a complete medical system that can positively influence the outcome in a great variety of conditions, from digestive disorders to hormonal issues and many more.

Manipulation
Although brought to prominence in modern times by the father of chiropractic, Dee Dee Palmer, spinal manipulation has been used by traditional cultures around the world for many years. Through the use of what are called “high velocity, low amplitude” manipulation of joints on the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, this therapy seeks to align the spine in a way that maximizes the flow of neural information to and from the central nervous system. Our clinical experience verifies that it is beneficial in the treatment of lumbar pain, sciatica, neck pain, and stiffness anywhere along the spine.

Therapeutic Massage
Massage therapy is recognized as one of the oldest methods of healing, with references in medical texts nearly 4,000 years old. In fact, Hippocrates, known as the "father of medicine," referenced massage when he wrote, in the 4th century B.C.: "The physician must be acquainted with many things, and assuredly with rubbing."
Massage therapy refers to the application of various techniques to the muscular structure and soft tissues of the body that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, vibration, rocking, friction, kneading and compression using primarily the hand. All of the techniques are used for the benefit of the musculoskeletal, circulatory-lymphatic, nervous, and other systems of the body. In fact, massage therapy positively influences the overall health and well-being of the client.

Structural Balancing
Structural Balancing is a deep reworking of the balance of the muscles and tendons of the body, to bring them back into proper alignment. Starting from the toes and working all the way to the top of the head, the posture is analyzed, and the structure worked to shift the body back towards optimum physical balance.
This treatment is ideal for people with chronic musculo-skeletal conditions that don't respond to other treatments.
